Overview
Miran helps Arabic-speaking users plan workouts, log meals from the largest Arabic meal library, track progress and unlock premium coaching. The redesign reimagined the home, premium upgrade, and meal-logging flows around clarity, motivation and quick action.
The problem
The original homepage didn't perform: users skipped key features, ignored the upgrade section, and dropped off at registration. Verification-code failures alone accounted for 73% of technical complaints, and only 23% of mobile traffic completed onboarding.
Process
- 47 moderated user testing sessions with Saudi residents
- Audited the current home, upgrade and add-meal flows for friction
- Reimagined daily stats as circular progress rings (calories, carbs, fat, protein)
- Redesigned the premium upgrade card with clear benefits and a stronger CTA
- Rebuilt the add-meal flow with quick actions, barcode scan and AI meal scan
The solution
A focused dashboard that surfaces nutrition, steps, energy and water at a glance; a premium card that explains value before asking for the upgrade; and a meal-logging flow that lets users log food in seconds — by search, scan, photo or quick-add.
Outcome
- ~40% more interactions with daily metrics on the new home
- ~25% increase in premium conversions after the upgrade card redesign
- Users spent more time in the app — flows felt intuitive and motivating
Heuristic evaluation
Applied Nielsen's 10 usability heuristics to identify friction and ship targeted fixes.
Finding · Daily progress was hidden behind plain numbers — users missed how close they were to goals.
Fix · Circular progress rings for calories, carbs, fat and protein — progress is visible at a glance.
Finding · The original premium upsell was a wall of text with a flat button.
Fix · Benefit-led upgrade card with iconography, clear hierarchy and a prominent 'Upgrade to Prime' CTA.
Finding · Logging a meal required too many taps for repeat users.
Fix · Quick Actions sheet: log food, quick-add, AI meal scan, log workout, water and weight in two taps.
Finding · Verification-code failures caused 73% of technical complaints and blocked onboarding.
Fix · Clearer verification states, retry affordances and graceful fallbacks during sign-in.
